Workshop History

In 1991, Statewide 4×4 began as a small automotive workshop trading as TRS Engineering on Eastmont St, Northcote Victoria. Within 12 months, business had expanded and moved location to larger premises to keep up with the demand.

The change to High St, Northcote saw the business become one of the leading automotive specialists for the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne with constant growth of clients. By 1997, TRS Engineering became a company and was renamed Statewide Automotive Pty Ltd.

After 9 years at High St, a forced relocation occurred due to development projects in the area. Although the move was not ideal, it did not change the business growth in anyway. The new workshop was located on Arthurton Rd, Northcote. By this time, the company had slowly started to change business direction into the 4×4 Servicing and Parts whilst still maintaining passenger vehicle clients.

The year 2009 saw Statewide Automotive become Statewide Auto & Offroad in it’s previous location of Preston. With the change came an almost complete change in business direction to focus on 4WD Servicing, Parts & Accessories whilst also expanding Company Fleet Servicing, Consultation and Commercial Vehicle Fit Outs.

In 2014 the decision was made to move out of inner city and move to the west of Melbourne. Our new and current location of Keilor East became our new home, with more modern facility and 200 square metre showroom.

Being conveniently located and having ample workshop space has allowed Statewide 4×4 to continue to grow.

These physical, structural and product changes we have undergone over the years are undoubtedly a response to the growing needs of our client base. We are now able to provide a more rounded service whilst still maintaining our client focus.

Meet Paul Tsiaras The Managing Director

With a passion for everything mechanical, Paul began his career as an apprentice for Ansett Australia in 1986 at the young age of 16. As soon as he received his qualification Paul was employed by Carlton United Brewery (CUB) completing services and repairs on the company fleet vehicles. Within 12 months Paul was offered and accepted the position of workshop manager. After three years with the company as manager Paul left CUB in 1991 to form the beginnings of Statewide 4×4.

Paul himself is an avid off roader and has been heading off the beaten track for many years. His first 4WD was a 1976 Toyota 40 Series Landcruiser. This was converted into an original soft top. The original 6 cylinder engine was removed and replaced with a small block chev, the gear box was a late model 5 speed from an 80 Series Landcruiser as were the diffs. To finish it off the body was sprayed a Candy Red. Paul still owns the 40 Series today.
